Suno launched Suno MCP Beta on October 28, 2026, its first official MCP server. It puts Suno inside Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code and Cursor, so you ask for a song in the chat you’re already working in, and the song lands in your Suno library.

Setup is one URL and no API key. Songs use the credits on your current plan, and free Suno accounts can use it too, according to Suno’s launch page and Music Ally. For now it’s early access, through a signup form, and Suno is one of the first big AI music generators to ship an MCP server, after data companies like Viberate did in July.

The obvious reading is “musicians can now make songs in Claude”, and that’s true. But I think the bigger group is the video editors, ad teams and podcasters who moved their editing into those same chats this year. One caveat: I haven’t run Suno MCP myself yet, so everything below comes from Suno’s own pages and the launch coverage.

Many already plan and work on songs on other platforms and have asked for us to build a connector so they can work without switching between tabs.
— Jack Brody, Chief Product Officer, Suno

Brody wrote that in the announcement, Glitchwire reported, and Suno is looking for early testers to send feedback.

What Suno MCP does inside Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini

Suno lists 4 things the connector can do, all without leaving the chat:

  • Create conversationally. You describe the idea in plain words, your AI writes the lyrics and styles, and Suno makes the song.
  • Upload your own audio. You drop in a voice memo or a soundbite and turn it into a full song.
  • Remix. You make Covers, Mashups and Extends of songs already in your library.
  • Use your Voice. You put a Voice you saved in Suno on any track your AI creates.

Suno’s sample prompts read like any other chat: “Make a lo-fi beat for studying, then give me three variations with different moods.” Then you follow up with “Make it slower” or “Add a bridge”, the same way you’d iterate on a draft email.

So that’s what it does. Next, how you plug it in.

How to connect Suno MCP to Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code

Every app takes the same URL, https://api.suno.com/mcp, and you sign in to Suno once to approve the connection.

  • Claude: Customize, then Connectors, then + and Add custom connector. Name it Suno, paste the URL, click Connect.
  • ChatGPT: Plugins, then Add, then Add custom MCP server. Set the Server URL, create it as a plugin, then connect Suno.
  • Gemini: Customize, then Connectors, then + to add a custom MCP server. In a chat, mention @Suno to use it.
  • Cursor: add the URL to your mcp.json under a server called suno.
  • Claude Code: run the command below, then run /mcp in a session to sign in.

Two limits to know before you plan around it. Suno says some AI apps only let you add connectors on certain paid plans, and Suno hasn’t published rate limits or a date for general availability. If connectors are new to you, my list of Claude connectors for music explains how they work.

Why Suno MCP matters for video editors, ad agencies and podcasters

Suno says it in its own FAQ. Your assistant can use everything you’ve already discussed, “(lyrics, a project, a video plan)”, so you don’t have to explain your idea twice. Lyrics and projects are musician words, but a video plan is the one for everyone else.

And the chat is where a lot of that video work now happens:

  • Video: DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 shipped a built-in MCP server on September 8, 2026, so Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT Codex can organize media, edit timelines and batch render, Digital Production reported.
  • Ads: Higgsfield’s MCP turns one product into UGC, product, social and explainer ads inside a single Claude conversation.
  • Podcasts: Riverside’s MCP lets Claude or ChatGPT prep an episode, edit a recording, cut clips and schedule the post.

Until October 28, the music was the one part that meant leaving the chat. Now a YouTuber who cut a highlight reel in Resolve can ask for 30 seconds of lo-fi under the intro. An agency running 4 ad variants in Higgsfield can ask for 4 matching jingles, and a podcast team can ask for an intro theme in the same thread where it cut the episode.

There’s one gap. Suno hasn’t said whether the connector passes the song file straight to the other tools. Today the song lands in your Suno library, and you download it from there.

Can you use Suno MCP songs in client videos, ads and podcasts?

Your rights depend on your Suno plan, not on the chat you made the song in. Since Suno’s September 3, 2026 terms update, songs downloaded on a paid plan are yours for commercial use, and free trial downloads are for personal use only.

That matters, because the free plan gets you into the MCP, but it doesn’t get you into a client’s video or a paid ad. You also hit the download caps: 7 lifetime downloads on Free, 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier. A team scoring a week of Shorts can burn through 20 fast, which my breakdown of Suno’s download caps covers in full.

Then there are the lawsuits. Music Ally flagged that rightsholders may be wary of a Suno connector in Claude in particular, since both companies are being sued. Round Hill filed copyright suits against both Suno and Anthropic on August 17, 2026. For a media company delivering client work, that’s a question for the client’s legal team before the first track ships, and my Suno review lists what else to check.

Frequently asked questions

Is Suno MCP free to use?

Suno says Suno MCP (Beta) works with all Suno plans, including Free. Every song you make through it still uses the credits on your plan, and access runs through an early-access signup form for now. Some AI apps only let you add custom connectors on their paid plans, so the AI side can cost money even when the Suno side doesn't.

What is the Suno MCP server URL?

The Suno MCP server URL is https://api.suno.com/mcp. You paste it into your AI tool's custom connector or MCP settings, then sign in to your Suno account and approve the connection. No API key is needed.

Is Suno MCP Beta an official Suno product?

Yes. Suno MCP Beta is Suno's own MCP server, launched on October 28, 2026. The Suno MCP servers on GitHub and in MCP directories before that date were built by third parties, and Glitchwire reported that they wrapped unofficial Suno APIs.

Can you connect Suno MCP to more than one AI assistant?

Yes. Suno's help center says you can connect one Suno account to several supported AI assistants, for example Claude and ChatGPT, by following the setup steps in each one. All of them draw on the same credits and save songs to the same Suno library.
