An indie label has started dressing up Meta’s AI agent. Edged Out Records published a free Halloween costume for Muse avatars this week, built from the outfit its band Pretty Boy Ghosts wears in the “Duct Tape Pants” video: a white PBG hoodie that turns into a mask, and silver duct-tape trousers.

Muse is the personal AI agent Meta announced on September 8, 2026. Its default look is Jolly, a cream plush mascot, and users can change it. Label founder Mattske noticed that few people actually do, and Music Ally reported on Tuesday how he turned that gap into a marketing campaign.

The one costume has since become a free costume shop, with outfits from Dracula and a Mummy to Sherlock Holmes, Popeye and Betty Boop.

How the Pretty Boy Ghosts costume works inside Meta’s Muse

There’s no app and no plugin. The costume’s GitHub page puts it plainly: “The costume is the images. Show them to your Muse and say ‘wear this for Halloween.’ That’s the whole skill.”

The repo holds 5 hoodie versions and 5 cuts of duct-tape pants, drawn as stickers on a black background, plus 5 “worn” references that show how the hood drapes over a face. To put it on, you give Muse 3 images:

  1. Your own Muse avatar.
  2. One hoodie piece, with the vintage PBG letters as the canonical version.
  3. One pair of duct-tape pants.

Muse then generates your avatar wearing the outfit. The instructions file is written for the agent itself, so every Muse wears the same fixed design instead of making up its own version. The hood is the mask, and the eye holes get cut last, “right where your eyes are underneath”.

The tech side came from Koryuai, the tech division of Edged Out’s parent company Liberty Rose Studios. The costume shop also explains how to make your own outfit pieces.

Why Edged Out Records put a band’s video outfit on Meta’s Muse avatars

The costume is a copy of what Pretty Boy Ghosts wear on screen. “Duct Tape Pants” is a single from the album Mullet, and the repo says the song goes back to Mattske’s school days, making actual duct tape pants with his friends.

So every avatar in the costume is wearing the band’s merch. The label spelled out the plan in its announcement:

It is a tech solution, a toy for Muse users, and music marketing at once: the band wears the uniform in the video, the public's Muses wear it for Halloween, and every wearing promotes the song.

Edged Out also says it thinks these are “the first actual garments made for Muse avatars and shared openly”. The label is run by Mattske, who writes and produces the Pretty Boy Ghosts songs, and his wife Kristen, aka Ten Kelly. The repo’s story file says AI is part of how the music gets made, and that the band is devoted in part to Mattske’s friends who have died.

Muse already has music partners. Ticketmaster was first in as a connector, and Spotify’s co-CEO talked up agents like Muse on its Q3 call. Edged Out got its song in there without any deal with Meta, using a hoodie design and a set of instructions.

Muse is available in English to US users, and Halloween is on Saturday. That gives the costume 3 days to spread.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pretty Boy Ghosts costume for Meta's Muse free?

Yes. Edged Out Records posted the hoodie and pants images, plus written instructions for the agent, in a public GitHub repository. There's nothing to buy or install. You show your Muse the images and ask it to wear them.

Who are Pretty Boy Ghosts?

Pretty Boy Ghosts is a band whose songs are written and produced by Mattske and released on Edged Out Records, the label he owns with his wife Kristen, aka Ten Kelly. "Duct Tape Pants" is a single from the album Mullet, inspired by the duct tape pants Mattske made with friends as a kid.

Which Halloween costumes are in Edged Out Records' Muse costume shop?

Alongside the Pretty Boy Ghosts outfit, the Halloween 2026 drop includes Dracula, a Mummy, Frankenstein's monster, Sherlock Holmes, Popeye and Betty Boop. Every costume is free, and the shop explains how to make your own.
