About the author
Inclusion policy
I profile two kinds of artists: AI-native projects — music generated primarily by AI systems — and human artists with documented AI in their production workflow. Every profile is independently sourced and attributed. Self-submission does not qualify.
An artist is included if they meet at least two of the following:
- Audience, not algorithm. A returning listenership — not a single viral spike.
- Moved the medium. Did something with AI nobody else had done, or forced the conversation.
- Coverage outside the AI bubble. Mainstream press, charting, or a documented industry event — not only AI-music outlets.
- 24-month permanence test. Likely to matter two years from publication.
Classification applies to tracks, not artists. A single artist can release a fully AI-generated single one month and an AI-assisted album the next, so labelling the person tells you nothing about the record. Each release is classified on its own using the SIQA framework — AI-Assisted, Human + AI Hybrid, or Fully AI-Generated — and appears in the discography on each profile. That mirrors how the SIQA registry structures its own data.
AI artists on Spotify: common questions
Are there AI artists on Spotify?
Yes. AI-native acts release on Spotify like any other artist, and some chart: Xania Monet reached Billboard's R&B Digital Song Sales top 10, and Breaking Rust held No. 1 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart for two weeks in November 2025. This index profiles the acts with documented traction.
How many AI artists are on Spotify?
Nobody knows the exact number because Spotify doesn't require AI labeling. Deezer, which runs AI detection, reported in September 2025 that about 28% of its daily uploads are fully AI-generated. This index tracks the acts with a returning audience or documented industry impact, not every upload.
Who is the most popular AI artist on Spotify?
By monthly listeners, Blow Records peaked at 2.8 million in 2025 and Breaking Rust reported about 2.4 million at its November 2025 peak. Rankings shift fast, so each profile in the index carries dated stream and chart data.
How can you tell if an artist on Spotify is AI?
Spotify does not label AI music, so you check the evidence: which tools the act disclosed and who operates it. Here that evidence is recorded per release, not per artist — individual tracks are classified with the SIQA framework as AI-Assisted, Human + AI Hybrid, or Fully AI-Generated, with sources for every claim, because the same artist can release records made in very different ways.
