Eddie Dalton

Faceless artist from US, active since 2026

Listen

Overview

Eddie Dalton is an AI-generated blues and soul act created by content creator Dallas Little, whose album The Years Between debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart in April 2026[1][4]. The persona is an older American bluesman with an AI-generated voice, face and videos, modeled on singers like Otis Redding, B.B. King and Marvin Gaye[1]. The act’s single “Another Day Old” reached No. 1 on the US iTunes Singles chart, and its rise made it one of the most argued-about AI acts of 2026, down to Joe Bonamassa calling out the act by name[1][13].

Background

Provenance

The Eddie Dalton YouTube channel opened on March 12, 2026, and the first release, the single “Running To You,” followed on March 14[11][15]. Three more singles came in the next two weeks, including “Another Day Old” on March 15, all credited to Vintage Spin Records[15].

Apple Music credits Dallas Little as songwriter and executive producer on the songs[1]. No source documents which AI tool generated the vocals and recordings.

Platform context

The catalogue is on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. On October 5, 2026, the Spotify artist page showed 415,300 monthly listeners, and the YouTube channel had 181,000 subscribers and 58.5 million views[10][11].

The act’s success brought a wave of look-alikes. Profiles named Eddie Dalton Blues, Eddie Dalton Sounds, Eddie Dalton Studio, Eddie Dalton IV and Eddie Dalmon appeared on Spotify and Apple Music from April 2026, some of them re-uploading Dalton’s songs[10].

Operator shadow

The human behind the act is on the record. Showbiz 411 first reported on March 27, 2026 that Eddie Dalton was not a real person, and on March 30 it published a statement from Dallas Little as the act’s creator[2][3]. Apple Music names Little in the artist bio and the song credits[1].

Some details are not settled. Press reports name a company called Crunchy Records[8], while the releases carry Vintage Spin Records and, from October 2026, Crusty Records, a label that describes itself as releasing music made through AI[14][16]. Reports tying other AI acts to Little are unconfirmed, and no distributor appears on the platforms.

Career

2026: The iTunes run and the unmasking

“Another Day Old” climbed to No. 1 on the US iTunes Singles chart in late March 2026[1]. On March 27, Showbiz 411 reported that the singer was AI-generated, and Little answered three days later: “Referring to it as a ‘content farm’ and suggesting people are being misled is inaccurate”[2][3].

The album The Years Between followed on April 1, collecting the singles into 10 tracks[15].

2026: Billboard and the UK charts

The Years Between debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart dated April 18, 2026 and held the top spot for 10 weeks. It was still No. 9 in its 25th week, on the chart dated October 3[4]. “Another Day Old” peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, and the act reached No. 5 on Emerging Artists[5][6].

In the UK, “Another Day Old” reached No. 2 on the Official Singles Sales and Downloads charts in April 2026[7]. Several outlets reported that as No. 2 on the UK singles chart, but the song never entered the main Official Singles Chart Top 100, which counts streams, as CMU pointed out[7][8].

On SIQA’s AI music charts, “Another Day Old” debuted on April 14, peaked at No. 7 on the Top 100 AI Songs, logged 24 weeks, and reached No. 1 on the Top 20 AI R&B Songs on August 11, 2026[12].

2026: New label and the Bonamassa debate

A new single, “One Summer at a Time,” came out on October 2, 2026, credited to Crusty Records[16]. The next day, Blues Rock Review published an interview in which Joe Bonamassa named Eddie Dalton and said AI acts shouldn’t share a category with living musicians[13].

Artistic style and AI workflow

Eddie Dalton makes vintage-sounding soul and blues, sung in the voice of an older man and modeled on Otis Redding, B.B. King and Marvin Gaye[1].

Under the SIQA framework, the March to April 2026 releases classify as AI-Assisted. Dallas Little is credited as the songwriter and says he writes all of the songs, so a human wrote the lyric source, while the vocal, the persona and the visuals are AI-generated[1][3]. “One Summer at a Time” is left unclassified until its credits are checked.

The voice is synthesized. Disclosure is partial: Apple Music’s bio says the act is AI-generated, and the TikTok videos carried TikTok’s AI label, but the YouTube channel and the “Another Day Old” video, with 8.3 million views, carry no AI label[1][9][11].

Public image and controversy

The fight over Eddie Dalton is about disclosure. Little says every social video is clearly labeled as AI and that listeners enjoy the music for what it is, while Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman wrote that the videos were not marked AI[3]. Newsweek found both were partly right: no AI mention on YouTube, an AI label on TikTok[9].

The chart run also drew pushback. CMU called the UK success “actually quite modest,” because it came from download sales rather than streams[8]. In October 2026, Joe Bonamassa said listeners have every right to enjoy AI music, but that putting AI acts in the same category as living musicians is “a horrible thing”[13]. The site’s coverage of his comments is in Joe Bonamassa defends artists who use Suno, but draws the line at AI blues singer Eddie Dalton.
