Key Highlights

  • Drag and drop audio to find similar sounds fast
  • Search 100,000 samples, about half royalty-free
  • Stay in your DAW, works with all main platforms

WAVS just made finding samples faster. This week WAVS launched their AI sample finder. You drag audio from your DAW timeline into the VST plugin to search for similar sounds. The WAVS AI Sample Finder removes the need to bounce and upload files, so you keep working without stopping.

User drags audio files to find similar WAV samples in a digital audio workstation interface.

The new tool uses WAVS’ own audio similarity algorithm. It checks your stems, loops, and textures against their library. Their library has over 100,000 samples, so you always have new options. You can also filter by artist, mood, energy, and style.

This launch adds to a growing set of AI sample tools. Some focus on finding sounds, like Splice Sample Finder. Others generate new ones, like Illugen text-to-sample and TwoShot. Then there are hybrids such as Output Co-Producer, which can both search and create.

WAVS AI sample finder stands out with a flexible license. You only need clearance after 1 million streams or a major-label release. The feature helps you find new versions for feedback, fix missing samples, and match popular song styles with cleared sounds. The tool works differently than Splice’s approach. WAVS shows you samples that sound similar to your reference audio, while Splice shows sounds that are compatible with your referenced audio. This gives producers different creative options depending on their workflow needs.
