Mashup Edu says running an independent music career takes around 17 distinct jobs, so it’s building an AI agent to take some of them off you.
The agent is called Nia, short for Next-gen Industry Access, and it comes from the Indian music education startup, Music Ally reported on November 6, 2026. Indian musicians can sign up now for early access to a beta due in early 2027, at a likely price of around $20 a month.
I haven’t run Nia because it isn’t out yet, so everything below is Mashup Edu’s own description.
What Mashup Edu’s Nia does for independent artists
Nia’s page opens with “You make the music. Then come 17 other jobs.” It lists them: distribution, metadata, split sheets, pitching, playlists, marketing, content, sync deals, live shows, booking, brand deals, contracts, invoices, taxes, registrations, merch and fan emails.
Mashup Edu calls Nia “an AI manager” and says it “does not just offer advice” but “is built to perform the heavy lifting”.
Music Ally names 3 tasks so far:
- Nia pulls your streaming data across platforms.
- Nia drafts personalised pitches to venues.
- Nia tracks the response windows on those pitches.
Founder and CEO Mandeep Singh is clear about what he doesn’t want to build.
Creators don't need another chatbot giving them homework or five different dashboards open at once. They need an AI agent that gets the work done.
You stay in the loop. “Nia does the work. You approve it,” the page says, and the launch image shows how: a card reads “A brand offer came in. I’ve drafted a counter”, with the line “Nothing goes out until you approve it”.
What Mashup Edu built Nia’s logic on
Mashup Edu started in 2023 and is based in Dehradun, India. It runs Xcelerator, a 10-week music business programme for indie artists, plus Backstage, a music industry course for school students.
Music Ally says Nia’s execution logic comes from 3 years of operational data working with 87 music creators through Xcelerator. It also uses playbooks from the 226 masterclasses Mashup Edu has run with industry leaders across 7 cohorts.
When Nia launches and what it costs
The beta rollout for Indian independent musicians is scheduled for early 2027, and they can request early access now. Nia’s page says access is by invitation, “opening in waves from January”. Global availability follows later in 2027.
The price is likely to be around $20 a month, about Rs1,900. That’s a likely figure and not a confirmed one.
“The idea is to give the kind of industry access and support that used to depend on having a manager or the right connections,” Singh told Music Ally South Asia.
Nia is made for musicians first, and Mashup Edu plans to open it to smaller labels and management companies later on.
How Mashup Edu’s Nia compares with other AI agents for music
Nia is going into a field that’s filling up fast. All of these exist right now:
- Chartmetric Flow is an AI agent for music data, from $60 a month.
- Tencent MusicBuddy is in closed beta and takes a song from first idea to release.
- Laylo’s Discovery Agent pitches your shows to fans who stream you but don’t follow you yet.
Nia’s pitch is the admin in between, at about a third of Chartmetric’s entry price. In India it also lands next to Madverse, the AI-powered distributor going after the same independent artists.
For now this one’s for Indian musicians, and the rest of you will have to wait until later in 2027.
