“What kind of sound am I looking for if I like artists like Jimi Hendrix?” That’s one of the 4 starter questions in Ask Fender, the AI shopping assistant on the new Fender.com.
Fender relaunched its website on October 5, 2026, and Ask Fender is the headline feature. It’s built to help you find the right instrument from a question typed in plain words, and it launches in the US first, Guitar.com reported.
What Ask Fender does on the new Fender.com
Fender describes Ask Fender as “designed to help musicians discover the right instrument based on their playing style, experience, and needs.” The welcome screen calls it “Your AI Shopping Assistant for everything Fender,” from finding a guitar to dialling in your sound.
You get a text box and 4 suggested questions to start from:
The input box invites questions about “gear, artists, or lessons,” so it’s meant to go past product search. Under it sits a warning: “AI-generated responses may be inaccurate. Don’t enter personal information you don’t want to share.”
Fender hasn’t said which AI model runs Ask Fender. It also hasn’t said when it comes to countries outside the US.
Ask Fender is 1 of 6 “pillars” Fender built the new site around:
- Discover brings products, artists and stories together.
- Understand adds product education, navigation and comparison tools.
- Choose is Ask Fender.
- Experience adds sound demos, so you can hear instruments and amps while you browse.
- Buy simplifies product pages and checkout.
- Connect puts My Fender, product registration and Fender Play lessons under one account.
Moving beyond a traditional ecommerce platform, it's a place where people can discover new gear, find what's right for them and connect with the brand.
The relaunch also comes with artist content. “The One. For New York” is a 5-show concert series starting October 14, Music Ally reported. Guitar.com lists Dinosaur Jr., Snail Mail, Thurston Moore Group and Steve Gunn among the acts.
How Ask Fender fits Fender’s other AI moves in 2026
It isn’t Fender’s first AI feature this year. In June, Fender Studio Pro 8.1 added stem separation, backing tracks and vocal transformation inside the DAW, all from Moises.
It also follows the August row over CEO Edward “Bud” Cole, who called cover music “analog AI” in a T3 interview and drew pushback from Rhett Shull and JHS founder Josh Scott.
“As the way people find inspiration continues to evolve, so does Fender,” Cole said. “The new Fender.com brings that experience full circle, making it easier to find the right instrument, explore the artists and stories that inspire us, and connect with Fender in entirely new ways.”
Fender isn’t the only music company putting a chat box in front of its catalogue. YouTube Music upgraded Ask Music into a chat across 300 million songs and podcasts in September.
If you’re in the US, it’s live now. Everyone else gets the new sound demos and site, and waits for Fender to name a date.
