Five of the iTunes Top 20 were AI tracks, including Imael Angel's TikTok hit 'Bad Times'

Imael Angel’s “BAD TIMES” sits at No. 6 on the US iTunes chart today, with its Extended Version right behind it at No. 7. Imael Angel’s own Deezer bio calls the act AI.

On October 10, Roger Friedman counted 5 AI tracks in the iTunes Top 20 for Showbiz411. He named 4 acts behind them: Imael Angel, Bob Dominator, Bjorn Bonebreaker and Topher Ryan. Taylor Swift held the top with 3 versions of “Patient Zero”.

The iTunes chart moves through the day, so I pulled Apple’s own US feed on Monday, October 12. Imael Angel and Bjorn Bonebreaker (No. 17) were still inside the Top 20. Bob Dominator’s “In My Soul” had slipped to No. 24, and Topher Ryan’s “Living Proof” to No. 38.

Is Imael Angel AI? What Deezer, Songfacts and Hungarian Wikipedia say

The music is AI. The person behind it is real.

Imael Angel’s Deezer bio describes an artist “created with artificial intelligence by a Hungarian deep house producer.” Songfacts names her: Bernadett Gángó, a Hungarian Reiki master and energy healer who “writes spiritual lyrics and uses AI tools to develop them into full songs.” Her Hungarian Wikipedia entry says she lives in England and mainly uses Suno. (Deezer’s bio calls the producer “he”. Songfacts and Hungarian Wikipedia both describe a woman.)

“Bad Times” came out on March 30, 2026 on her own label, Imael Angel Records. Hungarian Wikipedia credits TikTok trends with views in the tens of millions, and the song first appeared on the UK Official Singles Sales Chart on September 10.

So a human writes the lyrics and AI builds the track. Under the SIQA framework, human songwriting with AI production is AI-Assisted, not Fully AI-Generated. Neither Imael Angel nor “Bad Times” is in the SIQA registry, so that’s my reading of SIQA’s published tiers, not a SIQA ruling.

She also has a bigger record behind her. Hugel’s “Movin’ To The Sun” started as her Suno track, peaked at No. 2 in the UK, and sits at No. 13 on US iTunes today. Hugel confirmed the Suno origin after a creator claimed it started as an AI song.

Why AI acts like Imael Angel keep landing in the US iTunes Top 20

The iTunes chart counts paid downloads only. Friedman notes the record business is posting “record low numbers”, so a song with a TikTok trend behind it can climb fast.

The UK charts show that split clearly. “Bad Times” reached No. 2 on the Official Singles Downloads Chart and No. 4 on the Singles Sales Chart. On the main Official Singles Chart, which counts streams as well as sales, its best so far is No. 67.

Eddie Dalton showed the same split in the spring. His “Another Day Old” hit No. 1 on US iTunes and No. 2 on the UK Official Singles Sales Chart, and never entered the Official Singles Chart Top 100. River Cain and IngaRose both charted on US iTunes this year too. Friedman flagged Bob Dominator’s “In My Soul” at No. 6 back on September 8.

So far, Imael Angel’s run is a sales story. The next UK Official Singles Chart lands on Friday, October 16, and it’ll show whether the streams are catching up.
