- Apple, through a subsidiary, bought certain assets of the Swiss startup Samplab GmbH and offered jobs to some of its staff, according to an EU Digital Markets Act entry dated June 17, 2026.
- The European Commission published the entry on October 19, 2026, four months after the deal, and Apple has not commented.
- Samplab's AI editor let musicians change single notes inside recorded audio, detect chords and export them as MIDI, and split stems, as a VST3 and AU plugin or a desktop app.

- GasLab, an Amsterdam GenAI music platform founded by techno DJ Reinier Zonneveld, raised about $1 million in pre-seed funding, announced on October 15, 2026.
- Eric Demuth, co-founder and executive chairman of Bitpanda, and Bas Beerens, founder of WeTransfer, invested alongside other European entrepreneurs.
- GasLab trains only on music from artists and labels who opted in, and its Digital Notary model logs which of them shaped every generated track, on both the master and the publishing side.

- The companies didn't disclose the amount, but Korean deal outlet Dealsite reported a 100 million won investment at a 2 billion won pre-money valuation.
- MixRoom's AI Co-Producer turns typed requests into editing, mixing and mastering moves on tracks you recorded yourself.

- Playhead is music production software that turns a plain-language prompt into a chain of audio effects, which it calls a Treatment.
- Playhead builds each Treatment from its own catalog of effects, such as EQ, compression, saturation and reverb, and does not generate audio with AI.
- Playhead is in public beta on macOS for $16 a month after a 2-week free trial with no credit card. Windows support is planned.

- Yamaha announced VOCALOID7 on October 9, 2026, and the VOCALOID7 Editor goes on sale on November 11 for $129 before tax (16,500 yen in Japan).
- Owners of VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 can upgrade for $69, or $39 between November 11 and December 20, 2026.
- Internet Co. releases VOCALOID7 Voicebank AI Megpoid, built on singer Megumi Nakajima's voice with 8 voice types, on the same day.

- Sonilo's Sound World Model writes music and sound effects timed to a video's pacing, emotion and scene changes, from an uploaded clip, a text prompt or both.
