ArtMaster just raised $2.4 million for Artie, an AI piano teacher that listens while you play and tells you what to fix.
The Prague startup announced the seed round on October 21, 2026. The new money comes from investment firms Factorial Capital and Reflex Capital, AI music platform Moises, Anchor co-founder Nir Zicherman, Wand founder Grant Davis and Eliška Vorel, a senior product manager for Gemini at Google DeepMind, Music Business Worldwide reports.
Warner Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl and Beat Saber co-founder Jaroslav Beck were already on board from earlier rounds.
And the app is only a year old. ArtMaster says Artie passed 500,000 users and 100 million social media views in that time, while it still only teaches piano, and only on iOS.
How ArtMaster’s Artie gives you piano feedback while you play
You put your phone or iPad on the music stand, pick a song and play along to notes falling down the screen. No sheet music needed.
Artie listens through the microphone, or over MIDI if you plug in a digital keyboard. It compares what you played with the notes and timing of the song and talks you through it while you practice. After each session you get a score for rhythm and accuracy, according to ArtMaster’s Artie page.
So it’s basically Guitar Hero on a real piano, with 3 difficulty levels, a tempo control, loops for the hard bar and a Wait Mode that holds the song until you hit the right note.
ArtMaster began as a Prague music school and switched to video lessons during Covid, AroundPrague reports. Artie adds the one thing those videos couldn’t give you, which is feedback.
“Beginners are often making six mistakes at once. They need help prioritizing what to tackle first,” co-founder Radim Vysoký said in the announcement.
The Artie app is free to download and rated 4.7 on the App Store. I haven’t tested it myself, so this is how ArtMaster describes it. Which brings me to who’s paying for it.
Who backs ArtMaster’s $2.4M seed round, from Moises to Robert Kyncl
These are the new names in the round:
- Factorial Capital and Reflex Capital, two investment firms. Factorial’s founder Matt Hartman was a partner at Betaworks Ventures, the first investor in Hugging Face.
- Moises, the AI music platform that already has practice tools next to its stem separation and chord detection.
- Nir Zicherman, co-founder of podcast platform Anchor, which Spotify agreed to buy in 2019.
- Grant Davis, founder of the AI creative tool Wand.
- Eliška Vorel, senior product manager for Gemini at Google DeepMind.
It’s a busy week for Moises, which also announced a SoundCloud partnership on October 21.
In my view, one of the highest and best uses of AI is to help people learn. AI models have expanded beyond language and can now listen to people play music and meet them at their skill level.
Kyncl and Beck go back further. They took a 15% stake in ArtMaster in 2022 through JARO Capital, the investment vehicle they run together, CzechCrunch reported at the time, when Kyncl was still at YouTube.
So Kyncl’s stake runs through his own vehicle, not through Warner Music Group. Warner has its own AI deals, like its settlement with Suno, and ArtMaster isn’t one of them.
What ArtMaster will build with the $2.4M: more instruments, Android and AI-made drills
The money goes into ArtMaster’s AI models, which the company says are trained entirely on its own data.
Guitar and other instruments come next, plus an Android version. ArtMaster hasn’t put dates on any of them.
The bigger promise is lessons Artie writes itself. When you get stuck on a passage, ArtMaster says the app will break it down, simplify it and generate practice exercises on the spot.
“We’re just starting with music, and we plan to go way beyond it,” Vysoký said.
On the business side, ArtMaster says Artie’s paying subscribers have grown 38% month over month since October 2025, and its monthly recurring revenue 39%. It didn’t share the actual subscriber or revenue figures, so there’s no base to check those percentages against.
It’s one of several small music-tech rounds this October, after GasLab’s $1 million pre-seed last week.
Chaos raises £1 million for a music collaboration app launching October 29, 2026
A day before ArtMaster’s news, London startup Chaos announced a £1 million ($1.4 million) pre-seed round. Bridford Group led it, with distributor Amuse and a group of music-industry angels joining, according to Chaos’s announcement.
Chaos puts chat, files, feedback, sharing and lossless live writing rooms into one app. Under that sits what Chaos calls a provenance layer. It fingerprints each contribution and keeps a record of the creative process, so everyone who adds to a song gets credited, the company says.
“So much effort that goes into the creative process gets lost purely because of disconnected tools,” said founder Ruhan Verma, a self-taught producer who started Chaos 18 months ago. More than 15,000 creators are on the waitlist.
Amuse, the distributor in the round, caps AI releases at 10 per rolling 7 days, as I noted in my AI music distribution roundup.
So if you write songs with other people, Chaos opens to the public on October 29, 2026, and you can reserve a spot at chao.so.
Frequently asked questions
How much does ArtMaster's Artie AI piano app cost?
Artie is free to download, and the free version includes more than 30 songs and 3 MIDI imports. Full access costs $34.99 a month or $149.99 a year, and the yearly plan comes with a 7-day free trial, according to ArtMaster's Artie page.
Does ArtMaster's Artie app work with an acoustic piano?
Yes. Artie's App Store listing says it works with any piano or keyboard, acoustic or digital. On an acoustic piano it listens through your phone or iPad microphone, and a digital keyboard can also connect over MIDI.
How much had ArtMaster raised before its $2.4 million seed round?
Robert Kyncl and Jaroslav Beck took a 15% stake in ArtMaster through their JARO Capital vehicle in 2022, reportedly for about $500,000, and invested again in a $500,000 round in 2024, according to CzechCrunch. ArtMaster then raised more than €800,000 in March 2025 in a round led by Purple Ventures, according to Vestbee.
Is the Chaos collaboration app an AI music generator?
No. Chaos is a workspace where collaborators share chat, files, feedback and lossless live writing rooms. The company says its £1 million pre-seed round funds intelligence that organizes information, understands projects and automates repetitive work, while the act of making music stays in human hands.
