A song with a Suno-generated vocal is No. 3 on Melon’s Top 100. “The Adult I Dreamed Of” (꿈꾸던 어른이 되었나요?) by the Korean music creator Meomuru (머무르) reached No. 3 on October 14, 2026, The Korea Herald reported, behind Soyeon’s “I’m Gonna Toesa” and Rescene’s “Love Attack”. It was still at No. 3 the next morning.

Meomuru wrote the lyrics, and Suno generated the voice. The song came out on June 23, 2026 and took almost 4 months to get here, mostly as background music in Korean short-form videos.

That is 86 places higher than the first AI-assisted song to make the chart. Joseon Hiphop’s “Forest of the Heart” peaked at No. 89 in September.

How Meomuru’s “The Adult I Dreamed Of” climbed from a June release to No. 3 on Melon

YouTube got there first. On September 2, 2026 the song hit No. 1 on YouTube’s daily top music video chart in South Korea, which The Fact reported as the first time an AI-made song had topped a major Korean chart.

Melon followed a month later. By October 2 the song was inside Melon’s Top 30 (outlets put it at No. 18 or No. 29 that day), and 12 days after that it was No. 3.

It is charting outside Melon too. Music Ally reported on October 15 that it was No. 2 on YouTube’s Weekly Top Songs chart for South Korea with 3.2 million weekly views, No. 10 on Spotify’s daily Top 50 for South Korea and No. 48 on Spotify’s Top Songs South Korea. The lyric video on Meomuru’s channel had passed 11 million views by October 17.

What Meomuru wrote and what Suno generated on “The Adult I Dreamed Of”

Meomuru disclosed the Suno part himself. The artist’s note on the Melon album page says the vocals were generated with Suno, and that Meomuru handled the planning, the lyrics and the overall production direction. Melon’s credits list him as lyricist, composer and arranger.

The outlets split on the rest. The Korea Herald calls it an AI-assisted song and only names the vocal as Suno’s. Music Ally says he generated the music on Suno, and HuffPost Korea reports that the composition, the arrangement and the vocal all came from AI.

Every account agrees on 2 things: a person wrote the words, and the voice is Suno’s. Under the SIQA classification framework, human-written lyrics with an AI vocal count as AI-Assisted, not Fully AI-Generated. The track is not in the SIQA registry, so SIQA has not classified it.

To me, AI is a modern instrument and a partner that helps bring my imagination into reality. I believe that while the tools may change, the stories do not.
— Meomuru, music creator

Can an AI song chart on Melon, and does Melon label it?

It can chart, and Melon doesn’t label it. Melon let “Forest of the Heart” into its Top 100 in September and now has “The Adult I Dreamed Of” in its top 3.

When I checked the Melon track page on October 17, it carried no AI label. The only disclosure is Meomuru’s own sentence in the album notes.

The platforms say the rule has to come from somewhere else first. A music platform official told Ilgan Sports that “it’s not a situation where we can set an internal policy at the platform level” (translated from Korean). The official said trust bodies or the government have to set the standard for classifying AI works first.

YouTube does label the song. Music Ally spotted YouTube Music’s AI tag on it, under the labels YouTube started rolling out on October 14, which come from your distributor’s declaration or from YouTube’s own detection. Australia’s ARIA went further and blocked fully AI-generated recordings from its official charts from August 31, 2026.

Why “The Adult I Dreamed Of” earns streaming money but no KOMCA royalties

The chart run pays the recording. HuffPost Korea confirmed the track is an official release on Melon and that its streaming revenue is settled to the agency or production company.

In Korea’s usual split, about 48% of streaming revenue goes to the producer and agency side, and the distributor takes its fee from that. Melon lists OGQ Blending as the distributor and Glorywave Sound as the agency.

The song itself earns nothing from KOMCA. The Korea Music Copyright Association collects the songwriting royalties from broadcast, live performance, in-store music and karaoke. It opened registration to AI-assisted songs on August 3, 2026 and withdrew the rule 22 days later, so the song can’t collect those royalties right now, HuffPost Korea reports.

If you release Suno tracks through a distributor, this is the split you’re working with. Streams pay the recording wherever the track is live. Songwriting royalties depend on what your collecting society accepts, and KOMCA keeps AI-assisted registration off the table while Korea’s lawmakers work on the rules.
