Rio2C

Rio2C is Latin America's largest creative industries event, held each May in Rio de Janeiro. The Music Market, what the six days cover and who should go.

What Rio2C offers

Checked against the published programme. Struck-through items are confirmed absent, not merely unlisted.

  • Trade show floor

What is Rio2C?

The largest creative industries event in Latin America — and by headcount the largest event in this directory.

  • Six days at Cidade das Artes in Rio de Janeiro.
  • 53,000 participants, 2,000 speakers and 21 stages on the 2025 edition.
  • Music is one market inside it, alongside audiovisual, startups and publishing.
  • Strictly 18+ for the Summit, Conference and Market days. Festivalia is all ages.

What are the four strands?

Worth understanding before you buy anything, because Rio2C refers to all of it.

  • The Summit — a single day of immersion sessions on the future of communication, technology and innovation, split by sector.
  • The Conference — three days of keynotes and panels across the creative industry, deliberately transversal.
  • The Markets — where business gets done: audiovisual, music, creative solutions and publishing, each with its own structure.
  • Festivalia — the public-facing strand, and the only part open to all ages.

The Music Market is the piece most readers of this site care about. Rio2C positions it as the route that puts artists on the industry’s radar and turns projects into deals, and it is the most substantial music-business gathering in the region.

What does a ticket cover, and who can buy one?

Open ticketing with a hard age split — and 2027 pricing had not opened when this page went up.

  • Open ticketing. No membership or credentials needed.
  • Strictly 18+ for the Summit, Conference and Market days.
  • Festivalia is open to all ages, with under-14s accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Sales for 2027 had not opened when this was written — Rio2C said they would follow. No price is quoted here because none could be sourced.

Who should actually book this trip?

Book it if you are:

  • Working a business that touches Brazil or Latin America. Brazil is one of the fastest-growing recorded music markets in the world and this is where its industry gathers, backed directly by the culture ministries and the state of Rio.
  • A label, publisher or manager working Latin repertoire. These contacts are hard to build from outside, and this is the one week they are all in the same building.
  • An artist targeting Brazilian audiences, through the Music Market and the Festivalia showcases.
  • Selling across creative industries. If your product works for music and television and games, this is more efficient than three separate conferences.

Skip it if you are:

  • Music-only, with no Latin American market. Music is a quarter of the programme at best, and you will spend the week in rooms about audiovisual production and the creator economy. BIME covers the Spanish-language market with a music-first programme, and BIME Bogotá reaches Latin America directly.
  • Needing a compact, workable room. At 53,000 participants across 21 stages, Rio2C is enormous — the same problem SXSW has. Scale is not the same thing as access.

How much AI is on the programme?

Present across the programme, absent from the music strand as far as I can verify.

  • AI appears as a cross-industry theme, in a way that fits the event’s structure.
  • Sessions cover AI tools in content optimisation when material crosses languages and markets.
  • And AI alongside UGC platforms and democratised cloud access in the games sector.
  • What I could not find is a session putting AI and music in the same title.

That is consistent with everything else about Rio2C: it is a creative-economy event where music is one market, so the AI conversation happens at the level of content and platforms rather than masters, publishing and training data. Brazil has its own live version of that rights argument, and I would expect it to surface here eventually — but expecting is not counting, and this directory rates what is published.

If AI in music specifically is what you are choosing on, IMS Ibiza ran five sessions on licensing frameworks, voice models and authenticity in 2026, ESNS tags six panels under its own AI category, and The NAMM Show runs a named AI programme.

  • Everything happens at Cidade das Artes in Barra da Tijuca — one building, six days, no cross-city travel between strands.
  • Barra is a long way from Copacabana and Ipanema. Budget 40-60 minutes each way if you stay in the classic tourist areas; staying in Barra itself is cheaper and closer.
  • The BRT Transoeste line serves Barra and is the reliable way in during peak hours.
  • Galeão (GIG) is about an hour from Barra; Santos Dumont (SDU) is closer to the centre but serves mostly domestic routes.
  • Late May is off-season in Rio — mild, drier, and one of the cheaper destinations in this directory to stay in.

Common questions

What is Rio2C?

Latin America's largest creative industries event, held at Cidade das Artes in Rio de Janeiro. It runs as four things at once — a Summit, a Conference, a set of Markets covering audiovisual, music, startups and publishing, and the Festivalia public strand.

When is Rio2C?

Late May. The 2026 edition ran 26 to 31 May at Cidade das Artes. Dates for 2027 had not been announced when this was written, though Rio2C said ticket sales would open soon.

What is the Rio2C Music Market?

The music strand of the event, aimed at putting artists in front of the industry and turning projects into business. It sits alongside the audiovisual, startups and publishing markets rather than standing alone, which is the defining feature of Rio2C.

How big is Rio2C?

The 2025 edition reported 53,000 participants, 2,000 speakers, 21 stages and 483 players. That makes it by far the largest event in this directory by headcount, though it spans the whole creative economy rather than music alone.

Is there an age limit at Rio2C?

Yes. The Summit, Conference and Market days are strictly 18+. The Festivalia strand is open to all ages, with children under 14 required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Is Rio2C worth attending if you only work in music?

Only if Brazil or Latin America is a real market for you. Music is one of four markets here and the programme is deliberately cross-industry, so a music-only professional will spend a lot of the week in rooms about television, games and publishing.
