What is Mondo.NYC?

New York's music and technology business conference, run by the people who built CMJ.

  • Four days in Brooklyn each October, with the conference based at one hotel and the showcases spread across independent NYC venues.
  • Led by Bobby Haber and Joanne Abbot Green, who founded and produced the CMJ Music Marathon. Mondo started in 2016 and reaches its 11th edition in 2026.
  • 45+ panels and chats with 200+ executives from music, tech, finance, legal and media, plus round tables, product demos, workshops and one-on-ones.
  • 35+ artist showcases at independent clubs, with selected performances streamed on Mondo’s YouTube channel.

The stated focus is the artist and songwriter ecosystem and what technology does to the money in it. That framing is why this event sits on an AI music directory at all: the revenue question is the one Mondo puts at the centre.

What does a Mondo.NYC badge cost?

Five tiers, and the reduced rate is the one most readers here qualify for.

Best valueFour-Day Professional Badge$719All four days, Tuesday to Friday
  • All conference programming across four days
  • Panels, Q&As, keynotes and special events
  • Daily buffet breakfast
  • Access to the artist showcases
  • 25% off a 2027 early bird badge until 31 Jan 2027
Artist, Student, Indie and Non-Profit Badge$575All four days, reduced rate
  • All conference programming across four days
  • Daily buffet breakfast
  • Access to the artist showcases
  • Entry to the CLE panels
  • CLE credit, which needs a separate CLE ticket
CLE Music & Law Day$559One full day with continuing legal education credit
  • Full day of conference programming
  • CLE credit when the requirements are met
  • Buffet breakfast and lunch
Combo CLE + Four-Day Access$819The legal day plus the full conference
  • Everything in the four-day badge
  • CLE credit when the requirements are met
Single-Day Badge$439One chosen day of the four
  • That day's panels, Q&As and keynotes
  • That day's artist showcases
  • The other three days
  • The professional badge is $719 plus a $32.26 service fee for all four days.
  • Artists, students, indie companies and non-profits pay $575 plus $27.05 for the same four days. That is a $144 difference for the same programming.
  • A single day is $439 plus fees, which is 61% of the four-day professional price. As at BIME, the day pass is rarely the rational buy.
  • Every tier carries 25% off a 2027 early bird badge if you buy it by 31 January 2027.

One caution on the checkout: Mondo lists several two-day and single-day variants inside the same $439 to $575 band, with different days and different inclusions. Read the tier description rather than the price.

Why is there a legal track at a music conference?

Because the room is full of music lawyers, and they need the credit anyway.

  • The CLE Music & Law day costs $559 plus fees and includes breakfast and lunch.
  • Continuing legal education credit is issued when the attendance requirements are met, which is why it is ticketed separately from the general badge.
  • The reduced-rate badge includes entry to the CLE panels but not the credit.
  • A combo ticket at $819 plus fees covers the legal day and the full four days.

This matters beyond the lawyers in the room. A conference that programmes a full CLE day is one where rights, licensing and contract questions get argued in front of people who litigate them, which is a different conversation from the one happening on product stages.

Who should actually book this trip?

Book it if you are:

  • A label, publisher, manager or service provider working the US market. Four days, one hotel, 200+ executives, and a schedule built around one-on-ones rather than keynote theatre.
  • A music lawyer or a rights person. The CLE programming makes this the clearest legal-facing room on the autumn calendar.
  • An artist with a business reason to be in New York, not only a performance one. Showcase slots go through a separate application.

Skip it if you are:

  • Looking for a trade floor or a gear showcase. Mondo runs demos and round tables, not an exhibition hall. The NAMM Show is the other shape of event.
  • Chasing European or Asian market access. For those networks, WOMEX and All That Matters do what this one does not.

How much AI is on the programme?

Structurally present, not yet countable for 2026.

  • Mondo is a music and technology conference by design, and it describes its panel programme as centred on the artist and songwriter ecosystem and the impact of technology on revenue-related risks and benefits.
  • The 2026 session-level schedule had not published when this was assessed, so there are no titles to count and this rating is provisional.
  • The legal programming is the tell. An event that runs a full CLE day in New York is where AI licensing and rights get argued in front of the people who write the contracts, which is a narrower and more practical conversation than the one on most conference stages.
  • Recheck the daily schedule before you book if AI programming is the reason you are going.

For a 2026 programme where the AI sessions are already named and the model companies are on stage, Music Tectonics runs two weeks later in Santa Monica and is the better-evidenced choice.

What does it actually look like?

Where is it, and can you walk between venues?

Get directions →
  • The conference has one base. Daytime programming runs at the Arlo Williamsburg on the North Brooklyn waterfront, so you are not crossing the city between panels.
  • One stop from Manhattan on the L train. Bedford Avenue is the first stop out of 14th Street, which makes a Manhattan hotel workable if the Arlo block is gone.
  • Showcases are scattered. The 35+ performances run at independent NYC club venues rather than at the hotel, so budget for late-night travel.
  • Mondo holds a room block at the Arlo for 12-17 October, booked through the conference site.
  • Mid-October is the good half of New York weather and the expensive half of New York hotel rates. Book early.

When are the next editions?

2026 Past

The 11th annual edition, Tuesday to Friday. 45+ panels and chats with 200+ music, tech, finance, legal and media executives, plus 35+ artist showcases at independent NYC venues. Select showcase programming is also streamed on Mondo's YouTube channel.

Common questions

How much is a Mondo.NYC badge in 2026?

The four-day professional badge is $719 plus a $32.26 service fee. Artists, students, indie companies and non-profits pay $575 plus $27.05 for the same four days. A single day is $439 plus $22.12, the CLE Music & Law day is $559 plus $26.47, and the combo of CLE plus four-day access is $819 plus $35.89. Mondo lists several two-day and single-day variants inside the same price band, so check which days your tier covers at checkout.

Where does Mondo.NYC take place?

Conference programming runs at the Arlo Williamsburg hotel, 96 Wythe Ave in Brooklyn, on the North Williamsburg waterfront. The artist showcases run separately at independent club venues around New York City. Bedford Avenue is one stop from 14th Street on the L train.

Is Mondo.NYC connected to CMJ?

By people, not by brand. Mondo.NYC is led by Bobby Haber and Joanne Abbot Green, who founded and produced the CMJ Music Marathon, the New York conference and showcase festival that ran for decades. Mondo is a separate event that started in 2016 and is on its 11th edition in 2026.

What is the Mondo.NYC CLE programme?

A continuing legal education track for music lawyers, run inside the conference. The CLE Music & Law day costs $559 plus fees and includes breakfast and lunch. Credit is only issued when the attendance requirements are met, and the reduced-rate badge includes entry to the CLE panels but not the credit itself.

Can you attend Mondo.NYC online?

Partly. Select showcase programming is presented virtually on Mondo's YouTube channel, and some of it is pre-recorded. The conference programme, the one-on-ones and the receptions are in-person only, which is where the value of the badge sits.

Is a Mondo.NYC badge worth it for an independent artist?

It depends on what you want out of the room. At $575 plus fees the reduced badge is a business conference badge, not a showcase slot, and the four days are built around panels, demos and one-on-ones with executives. If you want stage time you apply to play separately. If you want 200+ executives in one Brooklyn hotel for four days, this is one of the denser rooms in the US calendar.
