The teaser landed one day after Suno’s download caps and new Terms of Service took effect on September 3, and 4 weeks after the company confirmed a new generation of models built with the music industry. The obvious read: the licensed models Suno has been promising since June are close.
What Suno has confirmed about the new models so far
The teaser adds nothing new on paper. Everything known comes from Suno’s August 10 policy update: the new models are “developed in partnership with the music industry,” and in early testing they generate faster, deliver higher fidelity audio and give more control than any prior version. When they launch, every prior model gets retired. Your library stays, every song remains playable and shareable, and covers and remixes of existing songs still work.
The industry part is the point. Suno has been building toward a model trained on licensed music since it teased one alongside its June funding round, and the company said in June it was months away. Warner Music signed in November 2025 and BMG signed on August 12. Universal Music and Sony Music are still suing.
The current model is v5.5, per Suno’s release notes. Suno has not said what the new one will be called.

No word on whether the Free plan gets the new model or a stripped-down version, the way v4.5-all became the free tier. One practical note: retirement means you won’t be able to regenerate a song with v5.5 or v5 once the switch happens. If a track depends on a specific old model’s sound, finish and download it now. The caps count from September 3, so plan those downloads.
