Key Highlights

  • London company launches AI-made K-Pop crime thriller series
  • Audience testing succeeded, 22 episodes coming spring 2026
  • Hybrid model uses AI production with human scripts

London-based Metrotone Media created something new in entertainment. The Raynmaker micro-drama, first reported by Music Ally, is an animated K-Pop crime thriller. AI handles 100% of the production and music. Humans wrote the scripts and provided the acting performances. Each episode runs under one minute in vertical video format. The project taps into the micro-drama market, now worth $7 billion and growing fast.

The company tested Raynmaker with audiences first. Co-founder Katharina Gellein Viken shared the results at London’s TellyCast Digital Content Forum. The response beat their expectations. “That’s tested really well with the audience, and now we have some big partners on board, we’re going to go with 22 episodes in spring,” Viken said. Metrotone Media started using AI music video generators. Now they’re moving into full narrative content.

Viken stressed why human involvement matters. “I’m a big believer in hybrid content, I don’t have a lot of faith in people wanting to watch all-AI content,” she explained. This approach responds to concerns about AI voice cloning tools and whether synthetic content feels authentic. The timing matters too. Australian artists petition against fake AI tracks appearing on streaming platforms right now. This shows why transparency about AI use in music production matters.”
