Producer.AI just became a Google Labs product. The Chainsmokers & Lecrae helped build it. Here’s what that...
Key Highlights:
- Google acquired Producer.ai and moved it into Google Labs, powered by the new Lyria 3 music generation model
- The platform now operates in 250+ countries with free and paid tiers, removing its previous waitlist
- All outputs include SynthID watermarking to identify AI-generated content
Google Absorbs Leading AI Music Startup
Google announced today it acquired Producer.ai, the generative music platform built on diffusion models. The deal moves the 13-person team into Google Labs and grants users access to Lyria 3, Google DeepMind’s newest professional-grade music model.
The platform lets you start with a prompt like “make a lofi beat” and refine it with granular controls over tempo, arrangement, and time-aligned lyrics. A feature called “Spaces” allows natural language creation of custom instruments and effects through a node-based modular environment.
Established Artists Already Testing Platform
Producer.ai counts Grammy-winning rapper Lecrae and The Chainsmokers among its users and supporters. The acquisition builds on Google’s existing Music AI Sandbox work with artists like Wyclef Jean.
“The founders are incredibly technical, but natively musicians, and understand the nuances of what makes a platform truly be an additive tool in the creation process,” said Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers.
All generated audio includes SynthID watermarking to flag AI-created content.
Your Competitive Edge Now Requires Hybrid Skills
This acquisition signals AI music tools are moving from novelty to professional workflow. Google gains vertical integration for YouTube’s AI instrumentals and royalty-free creator soundtracks.
Your advantage lies in mastering hybrid workflows. Use tools like Spaces to generate raw materials, then arrange and mix with human intent. The Lyria 3 integration in Gemini shows this technology is scaling fast.
