AI music passes 50% of Deezer's daily uploads, and Deezer starts deleting it

Fully AI-generated music made up more than half of all new tracks uploaded to Deezer for the first time in June 2026. The Paris-based streamer published the numbers on July 21: close to 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks arrived every day last month, and on peak days those uploads passed 50% of everything delivered to the platform.

The curve is steep. In April, Deezer counted 75,000 AI tracks a day, a 44% share. Fifteen months ago the figure was 10%. Deezer detects the flood with its own AI music detection system, which tags fully AI-generated albums on the player and feeds the company’s monthly stats.

Deezer will delete two kinds of AI tracks

Crossing the 50% line pushed Deezer from labelling into removal. The company says it will now take down generative-AI tracks used to inflate streams fraudulently, plus any AI track with zero streams for six months or more.

The move squares with what Deezer’s data has shown for months: most of this content has no audience. The company’s fraud report found up to 70% of streams on fully AI-generated tracks are fake, generated by bots to drain the royalty pool real artists get paid from.

Why 50% of uploads is not 50% of listening

The upload share sounds apocalyptic. The listening share tells a different story: fully AI tracks still pull a small fraction of actual streams on Deezer, and a large chunk of the streams they do get are fraudulent.

Deezer remains the only major streamer publishing these numbers at all. Spotify offers no AI music filter, and the industry’s push for standard labels, the RIAA-backed AI labelling system, is still a proposal rather than practice. Until other platforms open their books, Deezer’s feed is the closest thing the industry has to a public gauge of the AI flood.
