Indie band Daisy the Great say an app has been running ads with a “horrible fake AI version” of their song “The Record Player Song”. Kelley Dugan and Mina Walker posted about it on Instagram on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

The ads promote ADHD Vision, an app that uses music to support mental health. According to the band, the AI copy has the same melody as their song, with “slightly changed lyrics that are so so bad”.

What Daisy the Great say the ADHD Vision ads copied from ‘The Record Player Song’

“Something really frustrating has been happening for the past many months,” the band wrote. “We’ve been getting a lot of messages about it and to be honest we don’t know what to do.”

They describe the person behind it as “a guy/company” using the AI track, which is titled “old cassette”, to promote the app.

They are blatantly stealing and butchering our song and using it for profit without our permission.

The post’s slides include clips of the ads. Paste Magazine quoted the AI lyrics: “I’ve got an old cassette from a thrift shop down the street, / cut my hair to short now it never sits quite neat”.

The app’s pitch is “8D audio”, a headphone effect that makes a song seem to circle around your head, which it promotes as a help for people with ADHD who feel overwhelmed. Paste reported that ADHDVision didn’t respond to a request for comment.

How big ‘The Record Player Song’ got before the AI copy appeared

“The Record Player Song” was Daisy the Great’s debut single in 2017. The 2021 remix with AJR, “Record Player”, reached No. 6 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart and racked up more than 270 million views on TikTok.

The band says they are “trying to fight it and having a hard time so far.” The post had more than 9,100 likes and nearly 300 comments within a day.

They aren’t the first act this year to find a copy of their own work making money for someone else. A fake artist took 94% of Makeshift Hammer’s Spotify royalties with a sped-up copy of their album, and Sony Music has asked platforms to take down more than 260,000 tracks as AI deepfakes spread.

Takedown tools are catching up too. SoundPatrol’s AI takedown agent verifies, queues and tracks copyright removals, with a person approving every request.
